Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique keycase to celebrate the brand's centenary. It is made of Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it comes with a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

It is the perfect gift to introduce a new owner to their lavish vehicle.

Aesthetics

As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It's evident in the exact position of its quilting, the selection of leather from by-products of cattle production, the timber from forests that are sustainably managed and the unique patterns on its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its beautiful sculptural design is highlighted by carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever designed. The rear tonneau, for instance, displayed the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to a production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after car brand in the world due to its distinctive design and workmanship. The company is constantly pushing the boundaries using the most advanced technologies and craftsmanship. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear sunroof as well as a hand-crafted Apple iPad docking station.

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary this year, a century after it was established. The marque, which is now owned by Volkswagen without a partner following years of conflict with BMW, had planned a number of special events and launches to commemorate this milestone. Before the pandemic planning took the spotlight, the marque held a series of special events and launches planned to commemorate this historic occasion.

Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its lavish and extravagant automobiles, but even the keys are designed to stand out. The Bentayga key is made of sterling silver. It has a large 'B' logo which lets everyone know that you drive a Bentley. It also has the years 1919 and 2019 to commemorate the company's centenary.

The Mulsanne was redesigned and developed by Bentley Mulliner in order to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. The rear seats are designed to offer passengers unmatched comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxurious private aircraft. The bespoke heating and ventilation system as well as the air conditioning system was created to give every passenger the ideal temperature control.

The Mulsanne comes with a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that puts out 560bhp as well as 479lb-ft torque. This colossal power is complemented by a revolutionary suspension design that offers Bentley's famously quiet ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a specific specification that is known as the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. The cabin has cross-stitching, and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered with Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. A custom Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key has a button that opens the trunk and a second button that turns on the car. It also has a switch to activate the parking break. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors if you are parking in a tight space. Utilizing this feature will help you get into and out of your car more easily.

The key is constructed from vegetable tanned leather. It takes more than two days to make each one. It is hand cut to shape, sewn sealed, and polished to produce the highest-quality finish. It is strong small and compact, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's big car key, but it feels more substantial and premium.

It also has Secure-A-Key which prevents theft of keys that are keyless. The device is placed inside the remote control key fob and stops it after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that could unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values of exquisite craftsmanship engineering expertise, as well as cutting-edge technology. The headquarters in Crewe house more than four hundred employees who are responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley vehicles. These workers apply skills that have been handed down for generations and apply them to cutting-edge automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own car. The "mood station" lets customers pick images that inspire them. They can range from beautiful landscapes to sporting events. Every time a choice is made the pattern that emerges is the model, color and style preferences for the personalized Bentley.

The guests receive the keys in a case designed by hand and containing the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. Keys can be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the path of the door opening with the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. A key to that time-consuming effort is a deliberate refusal to take advantage of modern technology. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly-matched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers have to park their cars manually, not using sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spaces.

The event also saw Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities by presenting one of a kind - the Mulsanne W.O. The Mulsanne W.O.  replacement bentley key  pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars include an item key that shows a piece of the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
